12.11.18 Church collections - volunteers required. Our Centre will be holding Church Collections in Killarney this Saturday night and Sunday morning (17th and 18th of November). 5.11.18 Fake scammer arrested by Gardai (police). As a result of all the media coverage, many people rang our local Garda (Police) station and the man pretending to be deaf was arrested. 15.10.18 ESB Networks text service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The ESB (Electricity Supply Board) has introduced a new text service for deaf and hard of hearing customers. This service will enable customers to report emergencies including: Electric poles on fire / fallen electricity wires / life or property in danger (due to electrical issues). 14.6.18 Enquiries on paid/non-paid work with our service. Over the past few months, we have seen an increase in people looking for paid/non-paid work with our service. KDRC is introducing a number of new measures to ensure we are compliant with relevant employment/voluntary work policies and procedures. 14.5.18 Data protection - emails, text messages and newsletter update. Over the past few weeks, we have been updating all our client files to ensure we are following new Data Protection guidelines. 23.4.18 Thank you to Patti Canne in Social Work training. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Patti Canne for providing training to our staff, Board members and invited guests. 16.4.18 KDRC Data Protection Policy. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force on the 25th May 2018. Our service is committed to ensuring we follow appropriate data protection guidelines, policies and legislation. 26.3.18 Expression of interest for interpreting/ISL access for 1st year student. A secondary school in Abbeyfeale is looking for an 'expression of interest' from Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpreters to work with a 1st year Deaf student in September. For more information »

26.2.18 'ISL Act Formal Gala'. To celebrate the passing of the Irish Sign Language (ISL) Act. It will be held in the Crown Plaza Northwood in Dublin on Saturday the 19th of May at 7pm. 22.1.18 Our newsletter is back again after taking a break for Christmas and the New Year. Although our office re-opened on the 8th of January, we decided to take an extended break with our newsletter while our Manager was abroad in Asia and Australia.
